Hey everybody! What a fantastic spring this has been. It’s been busy, which makes these updates challenging to find time for, but exciting! I’m currently in Bolivia as I write this, so everything below covers up to (but not including) my travels.
As always, this is a mix of personal updates, progress on my app, and new work. All things I’m balancing in my life, and am excited to tell you about — hope you enjoy the blend.
So, what happened in the last couple months?
SIMBS AGM
We held our biggest ever AGM for the Non-Profit I lead — the South Island Mountain Bike Society (SIMBS)! We had over 130 attendees for a night of celebration, pizza and beer, and governance.

Me, Presenting
By all accounts, it was a huge success! All thanks to a great community turnout, strong sponsor support, and a tight presentation by the team. We’ve got a lot to look forward to this year, but my personal priority is getting myself out of the critical path on day-to-day operations. This will give me some more time for strategic and visionary work — something I genuinely look forward to.
Working with Trelent
I’ve begun sharing my time with another local entrepreneur, Calum Bird, at Trelent. I’m working with the team to build an AI Agent Orchestrator — a tool for businesses to scale up their AI workflows from a per-person/per-device basis, to durable multi-step agents on our clients’ own cloud infrastructure.
Think data classification or extraction, creating artifacts using custom skills, or any workflow where you want a connected chain of specialized agents working together. Our next milestone is enabling Claude Code or any other mainstream agent you’re already using as a base agent. If you’re a developer, it’s as simple as uploading a Docker image of your agent’s working directory with skills, defining your data imports/exports, and hitting go.
If you’re a developer building custom agents, or a business owner exploring AI workflows, I’d love to hear what your agent workflow looks like. Hit reply or reach out directly — I’m back May 1st and happy to chat about what you’re building, the tools you’re using, or the challenges you’re running into.
Finlayson Arm 28k Training
Committing to a 28km race with 1500m of elevation with a chronic knee injury was intimidating back in January. I could only run 3km without pain. And today, it’s still intimidating! But progress is steady, and this goal is looking attainable.
I’m now running quick-ish (for my novice butt) 10km+ road runs and 15km+ trail runs without pain. The next milestone is a trail half marathon (21km) that’s relatively flat, and a separate trail run with over 1000m of vertical by the end of May. It’s wild getting into a new sport again and very quickly realizing just how good people can get, and how far I have to go. For some reason I love that feeling — learning and getting better is the best part!
Herd
Progress has been slower than anticipated here because of all the other wonderful stuff happening — interesting work at Trelent, big events with SIMBS, time with friends, and travel with Aly.
Nonetheless, the core is built: authentication, groups, events creation and chat. What’s left are event management features and notifications, alongside various App Store requirements (eg. Terms of Service). I hope to knock these off once I’m back over May/June.
No snapshots or demos today as I’m without my dev server in Bolivia. But I’ll share more once I’m back!
Other Fun Things
While life may be busy, that doesn’t mean it‘s all work an no play. Since my last update I’ve managed to get up for a weekend of mountain biking in Cumberland with some pals, a few fun group rides, some riding with Aly, a mountain bike film night, and even bowling!

Travel
As I write this, I’m currently in South America travelling with Aly for three weeks! We’re exploring the Atacama desert, Bolivian Salt Flats, La Paz, Huaraz, and Lima. It’s been an incredible experience so far, but I won’t spill the beans on it all yet.
Expect some stories and photos to follow in the coming newsletters :)
Ciao for now!
